This appledoodle cookie recipe is perfect to make and have on hand for unexpected guests. You can make them and freeze some for those times you want a treat without the hassle of getting everything out to make another batch. You can also double it and freeze half, and keep half in the cookie container.

Ingredients
  

Cookie Ingredients:

  • 3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large Granny Smith Apple peeled and shredded

Sugarcoating ingredients:

  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Peel and shred the apple using a cheese grater. Place Apple shreds into a paper towel and allow the apple to dry out while you make the dough.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Using a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Using a large bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until creamy.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients.
  • Fold in the shredded apples.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Using an ice cream scooper, scoop some dough into your hands and roll into a ball.
  • Roll the dough ball into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Place onto a cookie sheet.
  • Repeat steps with remaining dough.
  • Bake in the oven for 11-13 minutes.
  • Allow cooling before enjoying them!
